Why do people stop going to church?

When I was a youngster, going to church on Sunday was as natural as getting up in the morning and eating breakfast. Whether my parents were able to go with us, and often times because of work or illness they were unable to, we went to church. Bottom line, it was part of our duty and responsibility as Christians.
