Drowning victim identified

The man who drowned in the Colorado River on Monday has been identified as Richard Banks, 45, of Las Vegas. Banks and his girlfriend had recently bought a kayak before he put in solo at South Canyon, according to the Garfield County Coroner’s Office. His girlfriend planned to pick him up in Rifle.
