The Business Development Director is responsible for driving business to new levels by helping to identify, develop, integrate and sell innovative direct marketing solutions. This position makes compelling presentations to marketing professionals using visual aids, slide shows, and other media. The person in this role knows how to get the attention and involvement of the most sophisticated marketers.

Position Details:

  • Successful track record of creating win-win negotiations with skilled or resistant groups; gaining concessions and protecting organizational interests
  • Authority on marketing strategy. Leverages products, services, and partnerships to build solutions that positively impact all levels of the clients’ organization
  • Closes the sale by addressing customer concerns, demonstrating empathy, and consistently moving the customer towards commitment
  • Wows prospective clients with strong presentation and communication skills
  • Prepare schedules for quarterly review by external auditors
  • Works with Professional Service staff to ensure smooth transition of client ‘hand-off’
  • Consistently identifies new sources of business and manages the sales process to close and transition
  • Focuses sales effort around identifying and fulfilling customers’ current and future needs
  • Meets or exceeds quota
  • Strong knowledge of latest marketing trends and technologies

Position Experience:

  • 6-8 years of sales experience in direct marketing or a strong background in advertising, interactive media, and/or database marketing
  • Track record of closing business and exceeding quota
  • Experience in strategic or solution selling (selling intangibles or services)
  • Prior experience generating sales leads
  • Exceptional communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player
  • Entrepreneurial in nature
  • Ability to travel about 50% of the time
