As a member of our operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building our systems and network infrastructure and participate in key design decisions. The ideal candidate has touched all aspects of a large production environment and can scale along with the company. Responsibilities
- Configure systems and networks
- Monitor site stability and performance
- Scale infrastructure to meet demand
- Troubleshoot site issues
- Ensure system and network security
- Develop custom tools as necessary
- Document system design and procedures
- Work closely with developers in supporting new features and services
- Coordinate with IT team on corporate systems and network
- Participate in on-call rotation
Requirements
- Several years of Linux or UNIX system administration experience
- Solid understanding of fundamental technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP
- Experience with web server configuration, monitoring, trending, network design, high availability, backups
- Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery
- Strong scripting skills
- Excellent communication skills
- A sense of humor!
Pluses
- In-depth MySQL experience (high availability, scale-out replication)
- Advanced knowledge of network design, management of Cisco network equipment, or BGP
- Experience at a large-scale consumer internet site
