Job posting at The position for a Senior SQA Performance Engineer requires a strong, self-motivated senior engineer to develop Crossbeam’s security platforms. The candidate must have a strong background in testing, networking and security skills. Experience with networking protocols and security applications are also required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop and execute performance tests based on industry standard techniques
- Review of product requirements and design/functional specifications to scope testing requirements, work with QA and Development groups to develop test plans and strategies, provide feedback information and design new test cases
- Creation of automated test scripts to reduce testing time
- Execute tests, review and report results, work with Development groups to identify and resolve problems
- Perform load and capacity testing on systems to evaluate and characterize system behavior on 3rd party network performance tools (such as Spirent Avalanche/Reflector, IXIA, etc.)
- Exercise independent judgment to determine the methods & procedures for new assignments
- Communicate progress and escalate issues to management in a timely manner
Key requirements include:
- Working knowledge of security applications such as firewall, IPS, content filtering
- Good knowledge of test methodologies like black-white box, integration, system testing
- Proficiency in scripting such as: TCL – Expect, Perl, or Shell scripting
- Experience working in a Linux environment
- Good knowledge of networking concepts and configurations
- Excellent team player
- Ability to interact with cross-functional teams
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic work environment
Key skills include:
- Past experience with best-of-breed security applications such as Check Point VPN-1/Firewall-1, IBM ISS Proventia IPS/IDS
- Experience in testing protocols, operating systems and security applications
- Experience in Network and/or Security Administration will be an advantage
- Experience with GUI automation tools such as Borland Silk
Education:
- BS or MS in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
