Job posting at The Senior SQA Engineer must be a strong self-motivated test engineer to develop Crossbeam’s security platforms. The candidate must have a solid background in testing, networking and security skills. Experience with networking protocols and security applications are required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review of product requirements and design/functional specifications to scope testing requirements, work with Engineering groups to develop test plans and strategies, provide feedback information and design new test cases
- Execute software test plans, test cases, designs, and automated test cases with minimal supervision
- Review tests and report results, work with Development groups to identify and resolve defects
- Write defect reports with an emphasis on providing relevant information to assist the Software Development team to address the defects
- Troubleshoot test failures for product defects and system or network problems
- Approach testing with a customer-centric viewpoint used to effectively prioritize and escalate issues
- Exercises independent judgment to determine the methods & procedures for new assignments
- Communicate progress and escalate issues to management in a timely manner
Key requirements include:
- Working knowledge of security applications, such as, firewall, IPS, and content filtering
- Good knowledge of test methodologies like black-white box, integration, and system testing
- Proficiency in scripting such as: TCL – Expect, Perl, or Shell scripting
- Experience working in a Linux environment
- In-depth understanding of networking concepts and configurations
- Excellent team player
- Ability to interact with cross-functional teams
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic work environment
Key skills include:
- Past experience with best-of-breed security applications such as Check Point VPN-1/Firewall-1, IBM ISS Proventia IPS/IDS
- Experience in testing network protocols, operating systems, security applications
- Experience in Network and/or Security Administration will be an advantage
Education:
- BS or MS in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
