Etsy is an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade: clothing, music, furniture, software, jewelry, robots. We launched on June 18, 2005, and ever since then have been empowering our users to make a living doing what they love most.
We are seeking a versatile and experienced developer to work with Etsy’s engineering team to help us maintain and develop our marketplace. This developer would work on core Etsy functionality and application logic which is mostly developed in PHP. You’d be working on extending and maintaining Etsy’s capabilities and features as well as streamlining and re-factoring the current system.
We’re looking for reliable individuals with:
- 3-5 years of work experience on an engineering team with strong architectural sensibilities
- a strong command of PHP, Javascript, CSS, HTML, W3C DOM methods and properties, cross-browser development techniques, and browser degradation strategies
- solid competency with SQL and XML
- familiarity with Python
- experience working in a Unix environment
- familiarity with revision control systems like Subversion
- familiarity with unit testing and overall QA processes in an agile development environment
- familiarity with lighttpd, Postgres, MySQL, memcached, and squid environments a plus
