Etsy.com is an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade. We are seeking a full time Interaction Designer to own the seller experience on Etsy.com.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

You will work closely with the Product/Visualization team and the executive team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •      Analyze, design, and specify the interface architecture for an effective user experience
  •      Perform user and task analysis; define use cases and information architecture
  •      Develop conceptual models, process flows, navigational maps, and strategies
  •      Document user interface and user experience requirements for engineering
  •      Provide insightful feedback and use your experience to improve the quality of the product and reduce the complexity of the user interface.
  •      Write requirements documents and design wire frames.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  •      A degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field or equivalent work experience
  •      5+ years’ working as an HCI or UI/interaction design resource in a software product and/or web development environment required
  •      Excellent requirements writing skills
  •      Interest in making the entire product better, not just the UI
  •      Proven ability to create effective user interfaces for large-scale consumer internet products
  •      Able to understand highly complex products and present an effective and usable UI to the customer
  •      Experience designing web applications
  •      Excellent computer skills, including design and HTML tools
  •      Experience with usability testing and interpretation of results
  •      Experience with Flash Media Server, particularly the SharedObject
  •      Experience working closely with product managers and engineering teams
  •      Excellent written, verbal and diagrammatic communication skills
  •      Some proficiency in at least a few related skills (e.g., DHTML, Flash, JavaScript, Usability Testing, Graphic Design, Prototyping)

  •      A strong appreciation for artisanal products and a DIY ethic.
