Job posting at We are looking for talented writers to pen how-to guides in a wide variety of subjects. These guides will be turned into fun, informative videos that will instruct Howcast visitors in all aspects of life, from art to the environment to travel—and everything in between. Some will be primarily practical (“How to Negotiate with a Car Salesman”), some will be primarily humorous (“How to Tell if You’re Dating a Psycho”), but all will need to be both entertaining and informative. The position will be full-time freelance, with the possibility of becoming staff.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong reporting skills
- Sense of humor (that can be expressed in writing)
- The ability to adhere to our specific format and house style
- Ability to creatively brainstorm ideas, topics, and conceptual approaches
- Broad general knowledge, possibly with a particular area of expertise
- The ability to write voice-over scripts, not just articles; to conceptualize your words acted out, not just on the page
- Experience writing service or instructional content
- A flexible nature and ego that can withstand heavy editing when necessary
- Ability to churn out several scripts per day
- Patience, enthusiasm and intensity to thrive in a start-up environment

Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience editing
- Experience and willingness to copy edit and do light fact checking
